MotoTron acquired by Woodward Governor

MotoTron, a software and electronic control systems development unit of Brunswick Corp., has been acquired by Woodward Governor Co of Fort Collins, Colorado. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Most recently a division of Mercury Marine, MotoTron has 80 employees in different sites around the country. Its 2008 sales are about US$17 million. It specialises in software tools and processes used to develop control systems for marine, power generation, industrial, and other engine equipment applications. "This acquisition strengthens our ability to serve the transportation and power generation markets," said Tom Gendron, Woodward chairman and CEO, in a statement. "MotoTron's broad, multi-disciplinary expertise around integrated mechanical and electronic control systems will allow us to better fulfill our customers' needs for systems that meet tough requirements for exhaust emissions, performance and fuel efficiency." MotoTron has been a supplier to Woodward since 2002. It is expected to be integrated into the Woodward Engine Systems business segment.
