Princess to use Tognum engines

By IBI Magazine

Tognum's Engines business unit and UK boatbuilder Princess Yachts International have recently concluded negotiations for a new framework agreement on the supply of MTU Series 2000 engines during the period of 2009 through 2012.

This will result in a 100 per cent increase in Tognum's annual revenues with Princess compared with previous years. The agreement covers the total supply of more than 700 engines.

The new agreement, which is being processed through the Tognum subsidiary MTU UK, demonstrates the growing synergies between premium brands MTU and Princess Yachts.

The high-speed Series 2000 diesel engines produced by Tognum's MTU brand have 8, 10, 12 or 16 cylinders and deliver 895kW-1890kW power output (1200hp-2570hp). With MTU-engines installed, Princess yachts will reach speeds in excess of 40kt.
